Samavartan Sanskar

In ancient days, a samavartan sanskar was held in the time when the students left their guru after completing his education. Likewise Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Bengaluru along with his Holiness Bade Swamiji Sri Devprasaddasji swamiji celebrated the samavartan sanskar with the outgoing batch of 10th ICSE and 2nd PU.
This function started after the evening assembly, with the garlanding of Bade Swamiji by Master Nootesh Chandra Reddy and Medappa, the representatives of 10th and 2nd PU respectively.
Then, the students expressed their views and some of their experiences about Gurukul. Then Sri Krishnacharandasji Swamiji enlightened them with a few words by saying that even if they forget Gurukul, Gurukul will not forgive them. Then, Bade Swamiji who advised the students to implement whatever they learnt in gurukul and be in touch with Gurukul and lead a happy life.
Then, the puja was done to the LCD TV donated by those students by bade swamiji and some of the students. All the students were given a token of remembrance, ie.. A photo of Ghanshyam Maharaj and Swamiji put tika on their forehead.
This was a happy moment for Gurukul but a sad one too as it was losing a good batch of students.

Dumb Charades and Minute to Win It

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Bengaluru conducted one of the amazing competition of this academic year 2011-12.This was the Dumb Charades and the ‘‘Minute to win it’’ competition. The competition was organized on 25/02/2012.

The dumb charades competition was held from 11.00 in the morning till 12.30 in the noon. It was held b/w the 4 houses namely Samveda, Rugveda, Atharvaveda, and Yajurveda, actively participated in the event. This event as all of us know was about the teams guessing the topic by the actions of their teammate. The 4 houses were given the chance to give the topic to the other 3 houses.

In this competition, Atharvaveda house ended in the 4^th place with 1 point followed by yajurveda with 2 points and Samveda with 4 points. Rugveda emerged as the winner with 5 points.

The next competition was the Minute to win it held from 8.30 to 11.30 in the night. This event had its source from the American program “Minute to win it” telecasted on AXN.

The event’s chief guests were Sri Pujaniya Krishnacharandasji Swamiji, Sri Satsangpriya Swamiji, Sri Anirdesh Swamiji. The event was organized in a clean manner. This was a grand event in which all the students joyfully and actively participated and provided a support to their houses.

In this event, the anchor would first give a clue about the event, so that the leader of the house could send a participant from his house and then, the event would be revealed.

There were about 17 games consisting of two rounds, the ordinary and the grand round. The ordinary round consisted of a bit easy games. There were about 8 of them.

The Grand round consisted of some 7 tough games which had the original blueprint of the reality show “minute to win it”.

Last but not the least there were games set up for the volunteers who had helped I organizing and carrying the show in a smooth manner, there were also games for swamijis and the organisers.

Crunchy lunch at Dilwin’s house

By the sovereign grace of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, we started the day with delicious food and refreshment by swimming in the hotel we were staying.

Later on we had to plan for the match which was to be played at 1:00 in the noon.

We were specially taken care by Dilwin Mendis as he had arranged a small crunchy lunch at his house.Before the prasadam was distributed we had a small pooja done by our swamijis and small melodious dhoon by Rahul Bohra.After this we were taken to the cricket ground.

Friendship Tournament and Great Festival

By the sovereign grace of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, we started the day with the match @ 9:30 A.M

The toss was won by india and elected to bat first and we got a blazing start from Manish M Patel and Harshawardan with a partnership of 50 runs in quick time and later on it was continued by Prathap Gowda with a knock of 44 runs and the innings was ended by giving a target of 106 runs to the Sri Lankans.

We opened the bowling attack by Prathap and Rahul.K.R in which they managed to bag quick early wickets and later on it was a fabulous bowling spell by Archit Bhandari,Mahanth Gowda and Rahul Bora as they managed to pick all the remaining wickets of Sri lankans.

The match ended in victory for the visitors(S.G.I.S)and we were pleased by the victory after a great loss in the first match.

After the match we came back to have a rest in the hotel and it was followed by a great festival in Sri Lanka which comes twice in a year and it was a full moon day(poornima).

By the sovereign grace of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan, we have successfully arrived to Sri Lanka on 4th Feb, 2012 by 10:20pm. @ Bangalore.

The Plane started @ 8:55 from Bangalore International Airport and within no time we were in the skies crossing the indian ocean to reach Sri Lanka.

@ Sri Lanka, we were warmly welcomed by Rev’ Dilwin Menids, Mr. Ajith & members with 2 big school-size wans till the Hotel about 12 miles away in Morutowa. Late night dinner was arranged for everyone i.e. Rice, Potato Curry & Dal. We were put up in our villa and comfortably passed the night to see the beautiful morning from the windows of our villa.

The location is good and fresh like an Indian Village. Also, people for top to bottom are quite helping nature, service oriented and calm. They feel pride to serve us and ready to render every service.

First day, as it is Sunday we dint start the Match but visited the Zoo. After returning we had entertaining swimming session @ the hotel, followed by nice games among the students, coaches and swamijis. And then fell the rain for about 2 hours. Finally, it was time for evening prayers and we resorted to the villa where our Beloved Ghanshyam Maharaj stays, performed Arti-stutis, Kirtan, Dhun & a short assembly. We had dinner and went to bed waiting for a wonderful dawn tomorrow.

Inaguration of Project Lab

The students at the hostel in Swaminarayan Gurukul International School had a very happy movement on Thursday 2/2/2012 when the Resource lab and the Dispensary was inaugurated.
The resource lab will be used by the students to refer to research materials for preparing projects given in the school.
The inauguration Ceremony started at around 4.00pm when Nityaswarupdasji Swami performed the ribbon cutting ceremony and then Janamangal was sung and then the dispensary was also inaugurated by lighting the lamp. The puja was done to the thakurji by Nityaswarupdasji Swami. Then tika was applied to all computers and medicines.
The students who had stood 2nd in the Competitions held on Republic day were the first to use the system.

Shikshapatri Jayanthi

‘Shikshapatri ‘ the holy book of the Swaminarayan sampradaya had its 187th jayanthi (anniversary)on 28th of January 2012 .
Shri Swaminarayan Gurukul also celebrated the jayanthi by holding a pooja at the morning time and also during the assembly .
In the morning the pooja was done by His Holyness Krishnacharandasji Swamiji , Rajeshpillai sir and top students from the junior Master Sumukh S Adiga and top student from the senior section Master Divya kaushal Ghag .After the Pooja the Aarthi of the Shikshapatri was done.
During the evening assembly all Hostelites performed Pooja by offering grains of Rice to the recital of the Janmangal.

SAIP trip to Wonder La

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Bangalore has always encouraged students to improve in academics. It also has got a unique researched program called the Students’ Academic Improvement Program (SAIP).
This program was developed by the management of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Hyderabad After a rigorous research by going through a mammoth total of over 1,00,000 report cards to come up with this program.
The concept behind this program is that the students are given a target percentage based on their previous performances which if achieved will be rewarded.
Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Bangalore has taken the students for 3 SAIP trips for this academic year, i.e. the first SAIP trip was at GRS Fantasy Park, Mysore followed By a Trekking Trip to Tumkur’s Devarayanadurga.
The Third SAIP trip was at Wonder La, Bangalore, the largest amusement park in India. The students who had achieved their target in the 3rd PA were taken to this theme park on the 27th of January 2012.
The students accompanied with 7 teachers departed at 10.30 am after their breakfast. As soon as the park’s bell rang there was a huge crowd rushing through the gates.
As soon as the students entered the park, they were led to the school locker were they kept their things, changed their dress and headed for the dry rides which included Wonder La Bamba, Maverick, Y-Scream, Insanity, Hurricane, Equinox, the Dungeon Ride. Etc.
They also enjoyed in the water park in the wet rides like Wonder Splash, The slides like Banded Kraits, Boomerang, the Vertical and the wavy fall, The uphill and the fun racer, etc.
They also enjoyed many other things like the Wave Pool, Rain disco, Musical Fountain and the Laser Show.
The students after enjoying in the park left the place at 2.30pm and headed for the school.

The Republic Day

The 63rd Republic day of India was celebrated with great ardor at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Bengaluru. The day started with the hoisting of the Indian Flag by the chief guests Mr. P. Jayram and Mr. Rajesh Pillai and Krishnacharandaji samiji. The national anthem was then sung with great fervor. Republic day prasadam was then distributed and after which everyone gathered at the school auditorium hall for a patriotic drama on the hardships that were borne by the legendary freedom fighter Bhaghat Singh and his allies. It was a drama performed by the collage and pre university students and the role of Bhaghat Singh was enacted by Mr. Anil Detruja of collage. It was a very inspiring drama which drew us back to the time of the Indian independence struggle, the drama truly drew the audience to a verge of tears. After the drama we were treated to a patriotic song saare jahaan se achcha hindostaan hamaraa sung by the students of Gurukul, Master Vishal Chavan , Master Jayakiran V, the instruments were handled by Master Saurav Satish and Master Sahawat Techapatiphandee (Moo).
After the song a mismatch competition was held between the four houses in junior and senior sections. The students had put on hilarious costumes and held a callithump which drew almost everyone into a fit of laughter. The winning house Yajurveda won both in the junior and senior categories. The participants on the Junior side were Master Nikhil Navalgatti, Master Nikhil Khurana, Master Hirapara Yash, Master Deepak Lunawat, Master Dilip.K. the seniors of Yajurveda were Master Patiwat Yuttithum, Master Prasad Patil, Master Naresh Kumar, Master Nagarjun.K, Master Ameer Khan. The next events was a pick and speak competition in which a junior and senior participant from each house took part. The students needed to be spontaneous in their creative ability to speak on various topics relating to India. Master Pratham N. Gorani from the junior section of Samaveda house won while Master Vaibhav Singh of the senior section of Atharvaveda bagged the first place. Following the pick and speak competition was a dumb charade competition in which Atharvaveda stood first, the participants of Atharvaveda were Master Krishna Sathvik, Master Shamanth Patted, Master Vimal Kumar, Master Vinit Dhanak, Master Amogh.N.Rayankar. The students who had come first were awarded with an outing and those who came second will get a glorious opportunity to inaugurate the new project lab which is being constructed.
The students also actively participated in the Art Mela held in the later half of the day. The Best Performances as judged by the judges were Dhruv Hapani, followed by Mukesh.M and Jirawat.
The Winners were awarded a token of appreciation for their fantabulous efforts. The day ended with a movie “Border”

Gurukulite brings laurels in international level

Shree Swaminarayan gurukul International School, Bangalore is well known and has been taking part in many fabulous events. It also encourages the students to showcase their talent and participate in many events including that in the international level.
As an account of this Master Chintapalli Sri Harsha of class IX IGCSE made it to the Swim Life International Meet conducted at Global Swim Center, Sadashivanagar, Bangalore on 21st and 22nd January, 2012. There were students from many countries like Sri Lanka, Nepal and Maldives. There were also students who had come from all over India.
In this mega event, Sri Harsha bagged a gold medal in 50m breast-stroke and a bronze in 50m backstroke and brought laurels to the school and our nation.
Thus, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul not only focuses on academics but also on the students all round development.
