Musical Devotion Under Lunar Eclipse

Published On: September 8, 2025

At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul Bangalore, on the day of the lunar eclipse, students and teachers came together for a special day of devotion to Bhagwan Swaminarayan. The day began with a series of heartfelt spiritual activities, starting with the first kirtan, followed by the second and third kirtans, creating a serene and devotional atmosphere throughout the Gurukul. After completing these kirtans, everyone gathered for a dhun, allowing the peaceful vibrations of the devotional music to fill the surroundings and elevate the spiritual mood of the day.

Following the rass dhun, a fun and engaging session of Kirtan Antakshari was organized. The activity was designed to combine devotion with entertainment, fostering teamwork, enthusiasm, and keen spiritual learning among the students. The students were divided into two groups: the Ghanshyam group and the Nilkanth group. The Antakshari had four exciting rounds, each with a unique challenge. The first round involved singing kirtans starting from the last words of the previous kirtan, which tested memory and focus. The second round was slightly more challenging, as Swamiji played kirtans on the keyboard, and the students had to identify the tune and continue singing it. In the third round, kirtans were played on the tabla, and students had to sing along according to the rhythm, which encouraged attentiveness and coordination. The fourth round introduced a spinning wheel, where team members had to answer questions displayed on the wheel, adding a fun, interactive, and educational element to the devotion.

After completing all four rounds of Antakshari, the students concluded the day with another dhun, reflecting the devotion and joy experienced throughout the activities. The entire day combined spiritual learning, music, teamwork, and enthusiasm, making the lunar eclipse a memorable occasion of dedication, fun, and devotion at the Gurukul.
