The Buddy Program – Passing on the Legacy of Values

At Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Bangalore, the Buddy Program stands as a unique and heartfelt initiative designed to welcome and guide new students into the rich cultural and spiritual fabric of Gurukul life. Rooted in the Gurukul tradition of brotherhood and selfless service, this program fosters a bond between senior students and newcomers, where the seniors take on the role of mentors—lovingly referred to as “Buddy Brothers.”

Through this program, the newcomers are gently introduced to the daily spiritual practices that define the Gurukul lifestyle. These include performing Pooja, applying Tilak-Chandlo, chanting Mantras, understanding Panch Vartamans, and following the sacred morning and evening routines. What makes this program truly special is the peer-to-peer learning approach—where values, discipline, and devotion are not just taught, but lived and demonstrated by their senior brothers.

This system not only accelerates the integration of new students into Gurukul life but also empowers senior students with leadership, responsibility, and a deepened understanding of the practices themselves. It creates a warm, inclusive atmosphere where every student feels supported, inspired, and spiritually connected.

The Buddy Program isn’t merely a method of teaching—it’s a sacred transmission of values, fostering unity, humility, and lifelong friendships. It ensures that the divine traditions of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul are preserved and passed down with sincerity and love, from one generation of Gurukul brothers to the next.
