195th Shraddh Utsav of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan
~~~~~
On 16th September 2025, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Jadcherla, observed the 195th Shraddh Utsav of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan with deep devotion and reverence. The entire Gurukul family—students, teachers, and saints—gathered in a divine atmosphere of bhakti to pay tribute to Maharaj’s eternal teachings and spiritual legacy.
✨ What is Shraddh?
Shraddh, or Pitru Paksha, is a 15-day sacred period dedicated to honoring our ancestors through prayers, rituals, and Shraddh Bhojan. As Maharaj has commanded in the Shikshapatri (Shlok 91):
“My followers should perform Shraddha & other rituals according to their capacity.”
By performing Shraddh, we express gratitude, seek blessings, and fulfill our sacred duty of remembrance.
🌼 Spiritual Significance
On Jet Sudh Dasam Tithi, Bhagwan Swaminarayan departed for His eternal abode, Akshardham. To honor His divine presence, Shraddh is observed in Gurukul each year. Maharaj Himself performed the Shraddh of His parents, Dharmadev and Bhaktimata, setting an inspiring example of devotion and respect towards ancestors.
At Gurukul, this Shraddh is performed not only as a remembrance of Bhagwan Shree Swaminarayan but also to inspire students to value culture, honor their roots, and understand the sacred duty towards their parents and ancestors.
