The Shri Krishna Janmashtami celebrations at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul School, Vijayawada, for day school students were marked by a vibrant display of devotion, cultural activities, and traditional festivities. The event commenced with a special morning assembly where students and teachers gathered to sing bhajans and devotional songs in praise of Lord Krishna. The atmosphere was filled with spiritual fervor as everyone participated in the chanting and prayers, invoking blessings for peace and prosperity.
A key highlight of the celebrations was the enactment of Krishna Leela by the students. They portrayed various episodes from Lord Krishna’s life, including his childhood mischief, his miracles, and his role in the Mahabharata. The performances were beautifully choreographed, with students donning colorful costumes that brought the mythological characters to life. This not only entertained the audience but also served as a learning experience, instilling values of righteousness and devotion in the young minds.
In addition to the cultural performances, the school organized a special puja (ritual worship) in the temple on the campus. The puja was conducted by the school’s spiritual leaders, with students actively participating in the rituals. The temple was adorned with flowers and lights, creating a serene and festive ambiance. After the puja, prasad (sanctified food) was distributed to all students and staff, symbolizing the blessings of Lord Krishna.
The day concluded with a dahi handi (pot-breaking) event, which is a traditional activity associated with Krishna Janmashtami. Students enthusiastically formed human pyramids to reach and break the pot filled with curd, recreating the playful spirit of young Krishna. The event was met with great excitement and applause, making it a memorable celebration that fostered a sense of community and cultural appreciation among the students.
