Shining Together in the Spirit of Deepavali

On October 30, 2024, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Belagola, Near Mysore, celebrated Deepavali with a vibrant, eco-friendly event filled with the spirit of light, unity, and cultural pride. The gathering was graced by Pujya TirthaSwaroopdasji Swamiji and Pujya Harivandandasji Swamiji, who addressed the students and staff, sharing profound insights into the significance of Deepavali and its deep connection with the Ramayana. Swamiji explained how the return of Lord Rama to Ayodhya, marked by the lighting of lamps, symbolizes the victory of light over darkness and goodness over evil.
Swamiji also encouraged everyone to celebrate Deepavali by lighting the lamp of kindness in their relationships, particularly with parents and siblings. He emphasized that this festival is a reminder to build strong and meaningful bonds. He spoke of the importance of celebrating in an eco-friendly way, reminding students to honor the environment while embracing cultural traditions.
Principal Shriharsha Joshi further enriched the celebration by highlighting the role of festivals in connecting us to our roots, fostering unity, and encouraging a joyful, eco-conscious spirit. He reminded students that true celebration lies in values reflecting Deepavali’s essence.
In a heartfelt ceremony, students brought diyas (oil lamps) and reverently lit them before Pujya Swamijis, symbolizing the spread of light, knowledge, and peace. The glowing diyas conveyed Deepavali’s message of hope and harmony, creating an atmosphere of warmth and unity.
The Deepavali celebrations concluded with reflections on the timeless messages shared by Swamijis and the Principal, inspiring everyone to carry forward the values of positivity, compassion, and togetherness. This memorable celebration became a beacon of cultural pride, eco-consciousness, and the true spirit of Deepavali.
