Shakotsav Celebrations

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Hyderabad, joyfully celebrated Shakotsav today, filling the campus with devotion and excitement. The event was graced by the presence of respected Swamiji, who guided the celebrations with spiritual fervor. All the Gurukul students gathered to perform a heartfelt dhun dedicated to Bhagwan Swaminarayan, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere. The food preparation, a highlight of the occasion, was lovingly undertaken by the saints, symbolizing their selfless service.

Shakotsav originates from a divine episode when Bhagwan Swaminarayan prepared a simple yet nourishing meal of shak (vegetable curry) for his devotees, demonstrating the importance of humility and love in service. In keeping with this sacred tradition, the curry prepared for today’s celebration featured brinjal as the main ingredient, just as Bhagwan Swaminarayan had done. The aroma of the brinjal curry and other freshly prepared dishes filled the air, adding to the festive joy. Students and faculty came together to witness and partake in the festivities, reinforcing the spirit of unity and devotion. The celebration concluded with everyone relishing the brinjal-based prasad, leaving hearts full and spirits uplifted.
