On 19th July 2025, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Belagola Near Mysore, hosted a spiritually uplifting event titled the Tilak Tika Competition, designed to instill and reinforce the significance of applying Tilak and Tika among students. This unique event was organized under the guidance of Suraj Sir, the Brahmavidya Coordinator, who led the session with great spiritual depth and clarity.
The main objective of the event was to teach students the correct way of applying Tilak Tika, a vital element in the Swaminarayan tradition and a symbol of devotion and identity. Students were given the opportunity to participate actively by applying Tilak Tika on their own foreheads, under the supervision and instruction of Suraj Sir. The competition not only assessed the accuracy and method of application but also emphasized the spiritual purpose and deeper meaning behind this sacred ritual.
Throughout the event, students and staff were guided to reflect on the importance of daily Tilak Tika, with the key message of the day being:
👉 “Tilak Tika is most important. It should be applied every day.”
This simple yet profound statement served as a powerful reminder of the importance of maintaining spiritual discipline in everyday life. Suraj Sir elaborated on the benefits of applying Tilak Tika, such as fostering a sense of purity, divine connection, and personal commitment to dharma.
The Tilak Tika Competition created a serene and introspective atmosphere within the campus. Students demonstrated not only their understanding of the ritual but also showed enthusiasm in learning its significance with reverence. The event helped bridge tradition with daily practice, encouraging students to embrace their cultural and spiritual heritage with pride.
By organizing such spiritually rooted programs, Gurukul Mysore continues its mission of holistic education—blending modern academics with timeless values. The event left a lasting impression on the participants, deepening their understanding of spiritual practices and inspiring them to incorporate such rituals in their daily routines.
This event stood as a testament to Gurukul Mysore’s dedication to nurturing both the intellect and the soul of every student.
