On 07 February 2026, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School Mysore hosted a spiritually enriching event titled Matru–Pitru Vandana, dedicated to honoring parents and acknowledging them as living embodiments of divinity. The program was thoughtfully designed to instill in young minds the timeless values of gratitude, respect, obedience, and reverence toward parents—central pillars of Indian spiritual and cultural heritage.

The event was led by Principal Shriharsha Joshi, Academic Coordinator Mr. Satish, and Brahmavidya Coordinator Mr. Suraj Kumar Singh, whose guidance and reflections set a deeply contemplative tone for the day. Around 130 students from Grades 1 and 2 actively participated, making the gathering both vibrant and meaningful. Through age-appropriate rituals and guided practices, the students were introduced to the profound concept that “Parents are God”, a principle deeply rooted in Sanatana Dharma.

A key highlight of the event was the symbolic rituals through which students sought blessings from their parents, expressing gratitude for their love, sacrifices, and guidance. These moments created a powerful emotional connection, reinforcing the importance of respecting and obeying parents not merely as a duty, but as a spiritual discipline that shapes character and values. Teachers and staff members also took part, reinforcing the collective commitment of the Gurukul ecosystem toward holistic education—where academics and values grow together.

The central message of the day, “Obey Parents”, was conveyed with clarity and compassion. Students were encouraged to practice obedience and respect in their daily lives, understanding that such virtues lead to personal growth, harmony at home, and moral strength. The event also offered staff and parents an opportunity to reflect on their roles in nurturing value-based education.

Matru–Pitru Vandana at Gurukul Mysore left a lasting impact on all participants. It deepened spiritual awareness, strengthened family bonds, and reaffirmed the relevance of traditional values in contemporary life. The program stood as a beautiful reminder that true education begins with humility, gratitude, and reverence for those who give us life.
