1st Rank in Environment & Energy Conservation Awards 2019 – 20

The Wonderla Environment and Energy Conservation Award (WEECA) has been instituted with the vision of recognizing and rewarding schools that help build a greener world.

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School Hyderabad is awarded FIRST RANK  with Environment & Energy Conservation Awards 2019-20 by Wonderla Holidays Ltd out of 146 schools of Telangana, Andhra Pradesh and North Karnataka in presence of Chief Guest Miss Earth India 2019 Dr. Tejaswini Manogna and Mr. Arun K. Chittilappilly, Managing Director of Wonderla Holidays Ltd. on 6th March 2020 in a crowded splendid event overflowing with dignitaries, guests, school representatives, students and print & electronic media people.

The chief Guest Dr. Tejaswini Manogna — a doctor, Bharatanatyam dancer, Carnatic vocalist, yoga practitioner, sports person and a medal-winning best shooter among 1.2 million NCC cadets. Currently, she works as a Yoga & Fitness Trainer for police department under Hyderabad Commissionerate. She was the winner at Miss Earth India an annual international beauty pageant promoting environmental awareness. Since many years, she is conserving & doing advocacy to protect Environment by all means.

The school Principal received a cash prize ₹50,000 plus a Certificate and a trophy on behalf of the institution, staff and all the students. After receiving prize when Gurukul students touched the feet and did Pranaam to the Chief Guest and other hon’ble guests they became so overwhelmed by the Gurukul tradition, culture and art of living which Gurukulites learn in their student life at Gurukul. And thus, they won heart of every one present there. Param Pujya Shukvallabhdas Swamiji honoured the MD Wonderla Mr. Arun K. Chittilappilly with a Shawl & prasad.

As you already know that Gurukul Hyderabad Campus ranked third last year. This award and rank propelled Gurukul management to compete further and rank first in the award ceremony next year. Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul took this initiative seriously keeping Environment protection & becoming more Eco-friendly for all children, people living & working here in the campus.

Consistency and time-management has been a hallmark of Gurukul success.

The award focus on the best school-led initiatives in the following categories: green travel to school and road safety, vast green area, Water conservation, Rain water harvesting, Waste Management, Energy conservation, nature conservation, RRR and health and wellbeing.

More than 3,500 plants & trees (herbal, medicinal, fruit and other varieties) growth is fostered under the holistic care of our HH Pujya Devprasaddasji Swami and other saints who wants to safeguard the nature for the future of the country.

In order to strengthen further, we did the following:

1. We upgraded our existing solar power supply grid with additional 20KV to fetch more power for meeting demands of more than 3000 students from different parts of the country and overseas plus more than 200 staff members.
2. Solid & Wet waste management to be man-handled separately.
3. Modern RO water treatment plant to supply potable water
4. More robust sewerage treatment plant.
5. 24×7 monitoring through dedicated team for effective supervision.

These accolades recognize Gurukul’s initiatives for our efforts towards eco-friendly environment.

Pujya Swamiji suggested to use this amount for ongoing Environment and Energy Conservation projects in the campus and blessed everyone for this achievement and the entire Gurukul fraternity took pledge and promise Swamiji for the same.
