Today, on the auspicious occasion of Makarsankranti, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, Hyderabad, celebrated the festival with profound devotion and a unique approach. Students of classes 10th and 12th took a remarkable initiative aimed at self-betterment, showcasing their resolve to embrace the true essence of this sacred day. The event commenced with heartfelt devotional kirtans and dhun, filling the atmosphere with spiritual vibrations. Pujya Shukvallabhdasji Swami delivered an insightful discourse on the significance of Makarsankranti, emphasizing its deeper values. He enlightened the students, parents, and staff on celebrating the festival in a meaningful way, beyond the customary practice of flying kites, by aligning it with spiritual growth and values.
A special highlight of the celebration was Gau Pujan, a heartfelt ritual where the sacred cow was venerated. Saints performed the pujan with devotion, and, as it was also a day for parents to visit the Gurukul, they participated in this divine activity alongside their children. This act of worship fostered a deeper bond between the students, their families, and the sacred traditions of the Gurukul. The parents expressed their gratitude for being part of such an enriching and spiritually uplifting experience.
The celebration not only deepened the understanding of Makarsankranti’s true essence but also inspired everyone to integrate its values of gratitude, spirituality, and self-reflection into their lives. Prasad, including traditional festive treats like Murmura Laddu, Peanut Chikki, Adadiya Sweet, and other delicacies, was lovingly prepared and distributed, adding a touch of sweetness to the occasion. The combined participation of students, parents, and saints created an ambiance of unity and reverence, leaving a lasting impression of joy and spiritual fulfillment.
