Gandhi Jayanti and Lal Bahadur Shastri Jayanti Celebration at Gurukul Mysore

Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Mysore, celebrated the birth anniversaries of Mahatma Gandhi and former Prime Minister Lal Bahadur Shastri on 2nd October 2026 with great respect, patriotism, and enthusiasm. The celebration was organized to commemorate the invaluable contributions of these two great national leaders and to inspire students to follow their ideals of truth, non-violence, simplicity, dedication, and service to the nation.

The programme highlighted the life, principles, and achievements of Mahatma Gandhi, the Father of the Nation, who played a significant role in India’s freedom struggle through the principles of truth (Satya) and non-violence (Ahimsa). Students were reminded of his philosophy of peaceful resistance, his commitment to justice, and his message of harmony, equality, and unity among all people.

The birth anniversary of Lal Bahadur Shastri, India’s second Prime Minister, was also commemorated with admiration and gratitude. His inspiring slogan, “Jai Jawan, Jai Kisan,” highlighted the invaluable contributions of soldiers who safeguard our nation and farmers who work tirelessly to ensure food security. The programme emphasized the importance of respecting the sacrifices of our armed forces and recognizing the hard work and dedication of our farming community.

As part of the celebration, students and teachers delivered informative and inspiring speeches about the lives, struggles, achievements, and values of these eminent leaders. Through their speeches and storytelling, they shared important incidents from the lives of Mahatma Gandhi and Lal Bahadur Shastri, helping students understand their leadership qualities, simplicity, patriotism, honesty, and commitment to the welfare of the country.
