On 08th July 2025, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, Belagola Near Mysore, organized a powerful and insightful awareness program under the banner of “Say No to Drugs”, aimed at educating students on the dangers and long-term consequences of drug abuse. The event was graced by esteemed guests from the KRS Police Station, including Mr. Vivekananda Sir (Circle Inspector), Mr. Ramesh Sir (Sub-Inspector), and PSI Ms Lamani, who played a pivotal role in engaging and enlightening the young minds of Gurukul.
The dignitaries were welcomed in a traditional Gurukul manner by the students and staff, showcasing the school’s rich cultural values and warm hospitality. The event began with a formal introduction, followed by a speech and PowerPoint presentation that highlighted the increasing concern of drug abuse among youth and its adverse impact on society.
Mr. Vivekananda, in his address, shared real-life incidents and explained how drug addiction can ruin the lives of individuals and their families. His words served as a wake-up call for many, emphasizing the importance of staying away from drugs, resisting peer pressure, and choosing a path of discipline and purpose. He encouraged students to be vigilant and make wise choices, staying away from all forms of intoxication and harmful influences.
Mr. Ramesh, SI, also shared valuable inputs, focusing on the role of students as change-makers and ambassadors of awareness. He appreciated the proactive approach of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul in promoting moral values and preventive education on sensitive societal issues like substance abuse.
PSI M. S. Lamani further reinforced the message by urging students to seek guidance whenever in doubt, and to be courageous in saying ‘No’ to drugs. He applauded the efforts of the Gurukul in shaping responsible citizens who uphold virtues of honesty, self-control, and community service.
The event created a significant impact on the student community, fostering a sense of responsibility and clarity about the hazards of drug use. Students actively participated in the Q & A session, raising thoughtful questions and showing genuine interest in understanding the law enforcement perspective on the issue.
The “Say No to Drugs” program at Gurukul Mysore stands as a shining example of how collaboration between educational institutions and law enforcement can bring about positive social change. It not only enhanced awareness but also instilled the values of leadership, discipline, and societal service among the Gurukulites.
