In this blog post, we will take you through the details of this enlightening and educational event that took place in the heart of Navi Mumbai.
The Group of Twenty, or G20, is an international forum of major economies that meets annually to discuss and coordinate various aspects of global economic governance. Its members include countries like the United States, Bharat, China, and many others, making it a platform for significant global discussions and policy decisions. While it is typically attended by world leaders and experts, this mock activity at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School aimed to replicate the G20 Summit environment, allowing students to step into the shoes of world leaders and diplomats.
5 days of preparation went into organizing this event. Students were divided into teams, each representing one of the G20 member countries. They were assigned roles such as Heads of State, Finance Ministers, and Foreign Ministers, mirroring the real-world roles played during the actual G20 Summit. To make the simulation as realistic as possible, students were provided with background materials on their respective countries’ economic conditions, political stances, and policy priorities.
The day of the mock G20 Summit was an exciting one. The school’s auditorium was transformed into a global diplomatic stage, complete with flags representing each G20 member nation. Dressed in formal attire, students took their seats at the negotiation tables, ready to engage in discussions on pressing global issues.
The agenda for the mock summit included topics like climate change, international trade, and global health crises—issues that the real G20 addresses. Each team presented their country’s stance and proposed solutions, engaging in lively debates and negotiations. The event was not just about emulating world leaders but also about understanding the complexities of international relations.
The mock G20 Summit at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School in Navi Mumbai was a resounding success. It not only provided students with a glimpse into the world of international diplomacy but also empowered them with critical life skills.
