Walkathon-2024-25 5K Walkathon: A Step Towards a Viksit Bharat by 2047
On August 9, 2024, Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, NTPC Lara, organized a 5K Walkathon that saw overwhelming participation from students, parents, and faculty members. The event, designed to ignite the spirit of patriotism and freedom in young minds, was a significant stride in promoting the vision of a ‘Viksit Bharat by 2047,’ a theme inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to celebrate India’s independence with a commitment to making the nation self-reliant, educated, and prosperous.

The excitement was palpable as hundreds of enthusiastic walkers gathered at the school premises. The walkathon was flagged off by the Honorable Shri Anil Kumar, Head of Project NTPC Lara, in the presence of School Principal Dr. B Nagaraja Naik and Shri Ravi Shankar, GM Projects. The event began with a motivational speech by Shri Anil Kumar, who emphasized the importance of individual contributions to the nation’s development. He spoke about the crucial role of education, self-dependence, and health and fitness in realizing the dream of a developed India by 2047. His words resonated with the participants, setting a spirited tone for the event.

As the walkathon commenced, a large number of students from classes 3 to 10, accompanied by their parents, took to the 5-kilometer course with great enthusiasm. The scenic route and the camaraderie of fellow walkers added to the vibrant atmosphere. Participants of all ages showcased their determination, team spirit, and even some fantastic costumes, making the event a lively and memorable experience. The top finishers completed the course in just 45 minutes, but every participant was celebrated as a winner, embodying the true spirit of the event.

Throughout the walk, the air was filled with energy as participants chanted slogans promoting the idea of a developed Bharat. The slogans, echoing the theme of the walkathon, energized the participants and reflected their commitment to the cause.

Upon returning to the school premises, participants were welcomed with refreshments, and a Certificate of Participation was awarded to each participant by Shri Anil Kumar. This gesture not only acknowledged their efforts but also encouraged them to continue contributing to the nation’s growth.

The event concluded with a heartfelt vote of thanks to all participants and organizers. The success of the walkathon demonstrated the power of collective action and the school’s commitment to nurturing responsible citizens who are ready to contribute to the nation’s progress.

The 5K Walkathon was more than just a physical exercise; it was a symbolic march towards a brighter, self-reliant, and developed India by 2047.
