From Waste to Wonder: Exploring the Sewage Treatment Plant at NTPC Lara
On 28th January 2025, Tuesday, students of classes 6 and 7 from Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School embarked on an educational field trip to the Sewage Treatment Plant at NTPC Lara under the guidance of the Respected Principal, Dr. B. Nagaraja Naik. The group was accompanied by teachers, Mr. Babaji Pradan, Ms. Medha Panda and Ms. Harmeet Kaur, making it a well-coordinated and insightful visit.

The visit was a truly meaningful and wonderful experience for the students. The field trip aimed to provide a practical understanding of how wastewater is treated and transformed into reusable water. The students were warmly received by the Assistant Manager TND, Mr. Demlal Chandrakar, along with Technical Supervisor Mr. Somnath Sahu and Operator Petikam Srinivasa Rao, who guided them throughout the visit.

The students were amazed as they observed the intricate process of water purification. Their curiosity peaked as they learned about various stages of treatment, including screening, sedimentation, aeration, and filtration. The detailed explanations and live demonstrations helped the students understand the operations thoroughly. The professionals patiently answered all their questions, ensuring the concepts were clear and engaging.

This visit was an eye-opening experience for the students, as they realized the importance of water conservation and the science behind recycling wastewater. It not only deepened their knowledge but also instilled in them a sense of responsibility towards sustainable living.

The field trip concluded with gratitude expressed to the NTPC team for their hospitality and the invaluable knowledge shared. It was indeed an unforgettable and educational day for every participant.
