Powering Knowledge: An Educational Journey to NTPC Lara MGR

As part of an experiential learning initiative, the students of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School visited NTPC Lara MGR (Merry-Go-Round Railway) on 29th January 2025. This educational trip was designed to provide students with practical exposure to coal transportation and railway engine operations, which play a crucial role in power generation.

Key Learning Highlights

During the visit, students were introduced to the different types of railway engines, including:
✅ Diesel Engines
✅ Electric Engines

The officials explained that electric engines are the most efficient and cost-effective compared to diesel engines. Students also learned about the Wagon 09HCL Model, which is currently used for coal transportation from Taipalli to NTPC over a distance of 67 km.

Interactive Session with Industry Expert

To enhance their understanding, students participated in an engaging Q&A session with Mr. Pawan Saini, DGM, RTIES. He provided in-depth insights into railway logistics, engine efficiency, and the advantages of electric engines. His explanations helped students connect their classroom learning with real-world applications.

A Transformative Learning Experience

This educational field trip expanded students’ knowledge about industrial operations and the vital role of railway transportation in power generation. Witnessing these processes firsthand sparked curiosity and enthusiasm, making learning more interactive and engaging.

The visit to NTPC Lara MGR was an eye-opening experience, leaving students with valuable insights and inspiration. It reinforced the importance of hands-on learning and provided a memorable educational opportunity for all participants.
