The 17th National Qwan Ki Do Martial Arts Championship in Jammu recently concluded with a standout performance from the NTPC Lara contingent. Representing Chhattisgarh as part of an 85-member state delegation, the 11 athletes from NTPC Lara competed against over 1,100 participants from across India. Their collective effort resulted in an impressive haul of nine medals, anchored by Shrija Chaurasia’s gold medal victory and Nakul Sushil Borkhade’s silver medal finish.
The team’s success was further bolstered by seven bronze medals earned by Aadidev, Aakriti Dewangan, Shahzeb Hussain, Arshi K.R., Eelma Naaz, Rahnuma Naaz, and Shambhavi Singh. Rohit Kumar, the NTPC Lara coach and Joint Secretary of CDS MMA, highlighted the mental fortitude required for such a high-stakes tournament. He noted that while major competitions often test a player’s confidence, the team’s achievement was a testament to their unwavering spirit and dedicated preparation, proving that determination is just as vital as physical skill in reaching one’s goals.
