On a bright and refreshing day, the students of classes 6 and 8 embarked on an educational field visit to the paddy fields of Kandagarh. They were guided and accompanied by their teachers, Ms. Shresthashree Ratha, Mr. Amit Nayak, and Mr. Manoj Padhan, under the supervision of the Principal, Dr. B. Nagaraj Naik.
The visit turned out to be a truly enriching experience for the young learners. As they stepped into the lush green fields, the students were thrilled to observe and understand the entire process of rice cultivation. They touched and felt the soil, experiencing its texture and even smelling its earthy fragrance, which gave them a sense of closeness to nature. The farmers explained the use of pesticides, the modern pumping technology used for irrigation, and how intercropping helps in better yield and soil preservation. This practical knowledge deepened their understanding of sustainable agricultural practices.
Additionally, the farmers explained that along with the paddy crop, the do plantation of tomatoes, chilles, brinjal, colossia etc.
Adding to the joy, the students shared a simple yet delightful lunch with their teachers and principal beside the fields. The open-air meal surrounded by greenery created an atmosphere of warmth, togetherness, and joy.
The field visit was indeed a rare and amazing opportunity for the students. It not only enriched their knowledge of agriculture but also instilled in them respect for farmers and the hard work they put into feeding the nation. The fragrance of soil, the sight of vibrant crops, and the experience of being so close to nature left a lasting impression on their young minds.
Such experiences remind us that learning extends far beyond classroom walls — and this day in the paddy fields of Kandagarh was truly one to remember.
