Learning Beyond Books: A Hands – on Bagless Day Today’s (05/04/2025) Bagless Day was yet another step towards experiential learning and holistic development for our students from Classes I to IX. The day was filled with excitement, creativity, and life skill activities that offered a refreshing break from routine academics.
1. ECCA Sessions:
Students enthusiastically participated in various Extra-Curricular and Co-Curricular Activities (ECCA), which included:
Basketball – Promoted physical fitness, team spirit, and sportsmanship.
Music – Students explored vocal and instrumental melodies, enhancing their artistic abilities.
Karate – Boosted self-discipline, focus, and physical strength.
Dance – Helped in rhythm, coordination, and self-expression.
Art – Gave wings to imagination through drawing, painting, and craftwork.
2. Spoken English Classes:
To strengthen communication skills and boost confidence, Spoken English sessions were conducted for all classes with engaging topics:
Taboo – A fun vocabulary-building game encouraging quick thinking.
What is in My Bag? – Helped students express ideas and improve descriptive skills.
Self-Introduction – Developed confidence in public speaking.
Most Admired Person – Encouraged thoughtfulness and articulation.
Magical Words and Their Daily Use – Reinforced the importance of manners through expressions like ‘Thank You’ and ‘Excuse Me.’
My favourite person – fostered emotional expression and connection.
3. Skill-Based Activities:
Today’s iconic and most thrilling activity was Pottery, conducted for Classes I to IX. It was an extraordinary hands-on experience for students who enjoyed shaping clay and understanding the essence of traditional art.
Other life-skill activities included:
Shoe Lace Tying – Taught fine motor skills and self-dependence.
Shoe Polishing – Instilled neatness and a sense of responsibility.
Ironing and Folding Clothes – Promoted discipline, orderliness, and independence.
The day was incredibly fruitful and enriching. Students not only learned essential life skills but also had loads of fun. Teachers too enjoyed the experience, as they actively participated alongside the students. The joy of learning through doing was truly visible on every face, making this Bagless Day a memorable one for the Gurukul family.
