Onam Celebration
The Onam celebration at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School on 14th September 2024 was truly an elegant and memorable event. The day began with the traditional Athappookalam, symbolizing a warm welcome to all members of the SSGIS family. The floral arrangement, meticulously crafted, added to the festive atmosphere, creating a homely ambiance for the school’s Onam festivities.

The highlight of the celebration was a beautifully enacted skit depicting the legendary story of Mahabali and Vamana, capturing the essence of Onam’s mythology. Following this, the students prepared another intricate Athappookalam on the stage, with the soothing background music of ‘poove poli poove,’ enhancing the cultural richness of the event.

An Onam song performed by the students further enlivened the celebration, setting the tone for the next major segment: Vallamkali. An artificial floating boat with two riders was staged, symbolizing the traditional boat race, a quintessential part of Onam celebrations. The audience was enthralled by the lifelike portrayal.

The event concluded with a fabulous Thiruvathirakkali, a traditional dance that captivated everyone with its grace and rhythm.

The teaching staff also participated in a series of fun and interesting games, adding a touch of joy and camaraderie to the occasion. The day left a lasting impression, making it an unforgettable moment for everyone involved.
