As part of the Green Day celebration, the KG section of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School organised a lively and educational Mock Vegetable Market on 28th November. The school campus transformed into a colourful and vibrant mini-market, beautifully arranged with baskets of fresh vegetables such as tomatoes, brinjals, beans, spinach, cucumbers, potatoes, pumpkins, and more.
The young KG students enthusiastically took on the roles of vegetable vendors, neatly arranging their stalls, calling out to customers, and engaging in cheerful conversations. They used weighing scales, baskets, and mock currency, making the entire activity realistic and highly engaging. Parents, teachers, and local civilians visited the stalls as buyers, creating a bustling and joyful market atmosphere.
A special moment of pride for the children was when Respected Principal Sir visited the market, interacted warmly with the little vendors, and appreciated their sincere efforts. To motivate them further, Principal Sir also purchased a bottle gourd from the young sellers, which brought immense excitement and confidence to the students. His gesture encouraged them to participate more enthusiastically and added authenticity to the experience.
Although some children were initially shy and embarrassed while playing their roles, they soon became completely involved, genuinely feeling like real vendors. Their energy, responsibility, communication skills, and eagerness to “sell” reflected their pure joy and learning spirit.
This mock vegetable market helped students:
Identify and name various vegetables
Understand the concept of buying and selling
Develop communication and social interaction skills
Build confidence and teamwork
Learn through real-life experiential activity
Overall, the Green Day celebration turned into a memorable and meaningful learning experience, showcasing the innocence, enthusiasm, and active participation of our KG students.
