‘Unravelling the Wonders of Science: National Science Day Celebration’ The National Science Day celebration at Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School was conducted with great enthusiasm and scientific spirit. The event began with the garlanding of the legendary scientist Dr. C.V. Raman by our esteemed Principal, Dr. B. Nagaraja Naik, as a mark of respect for his remarkable contributions to the field of science.
To add an engaging and educational touch, Master Amitesh Shourya dressed up as Dr. C.V. Raman and delivered a brief sketch about his life, highlighting his groundbreaking discovery of the Raman Effect, which earned him the Nobel Prize in Physics.
The celebration was filled with various competitions and activities designed to stimulate students’ interest in science and encourage active participation:
A house-wise quiz competition was conducted for the junior session with teams from Rigveda, Samaveda, Yajurveda, and Atharvaveda Houses. The competition had four intense rounds, where students showcased their knowledge of basic science concepts. Yajurveda House emerged as the winner after an exciting contest.
Students who excelled in the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) exams were honoured by the Principal and the Science Department teachers for their outstanding achievements, motivating others to strive for excellence
Students of classes 4 and 5 participated in a drawing competition, where they beautifully illustrated internal organs, flowers, and the human eye with precision and creativity.
Students from classes 6 and 7 showcased their artistic skills and scientific knowledge through a Rangoli competition. The topics included:
Types of joints
Parts of a flower
Skeletal system
Circulatory system
Excretory system
Asexual reproduction
Their vibrant and detailed rangoli designs transformed science into an artistic expression.
For class 8, an essay writing competition was conducted on the topic ‘How Science Impacts Daily Life.’ Students wrote insightful essays, reflecting on the crucial role science plays in everyday activities, from communication and healthcare to transportation and technology.
The National Science Day celebration was a grand success, with students enthusiastically participating in all the competitions. The event not only honoured Dr. C.V. Raman’s contributions also ignited curiosity and a love for science among young minds. The day concluded on a high note, leaving students inspired and motivated to explore the wonders of science further.
