Pravartaniya sadvidya, bhuvi yatsukrutam mahat’

means propagating true education in the world is the noblest work of all.

Education is just not merely passing the course or class but it is about realizing that God is the core of everything in us. As Aristotle quotes, “Educating the mind without educating the heart is no education at all”. Heart is the seat of virtues. True education aims at noble qualities in students like enthusiasm, courage, devotion, dedication, fearlessness, brilliance, strength and selfless service. Our heart, thoughts, words and actions should go hand in hand.

But unfortunately, the current educational system does not have education with morals and spiritual basis which is creating a great harm to the society. The current system has drawn morality and spirituality out and aims in training students to gain knowledge and skills only to compete and self consume in the global market. A rapid growth in the global economy, erosion of values around the world, rapid commercialization in present educational system takes us to the materialistic world.

When the focus is only on the intellectual aspect of human personality, neglecting the body and the spirit it is about to create an unbalanced personality and unfortunately today the whole world is witnessing such incidents.

But Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul has its own style of self-service to our beloved children nurturing their hearts withVidya, Sadvidya and Brahmavidya.

Gurukuls are also known as Sanskaardhaam. For this reason, the students here are imparted with Sanskaar –ethics and values which is present day’s most overlooked concern in India.

Every week a spiritual assembly is conducted presided by Pujya Swamiji. By these spiritual assemblies, the students learn moral and spiritual values through the tales, stories and all epics based on the Vedic scriptures. These spiritual assemblies are the core in inculcating behavioral education into students.

Our main focus lies in inculcating the spiritual and moral values in students through various assemblies, value meetings, prayers and pooja to name a few. At our residential campuses, students need to follow a routine where they come to prayer hall for pooja at 5:30 in the morning every day. This includes chanting of Swaminarayan Mahamantra, recitation of devotional songs (kirtans), etc. It gives an absolutely divine feeling during this hour.

Swamijis precisely conduct value meetings every evening. This comprises the Aarti of Shri Ghanshyam Maharaj followed by the devotional songs (kirtans) and spiritual discourses like Vachanamrut.

SGIS institution is run by the holistic guidance of the saints. The students even get their company in the school through which their moral and spiritual values are developed
