Rise above the Attachment of Woman, Wealth & Power

स्त्रियाः धनस्य वा प्राप्त्यै साम्राज्यस्य च वा क्वचित्।

मनुष्यस्य तु कस्यापि हिंसा कार्या न सर्वथा ॥१३॥

None shall ever kill a human being for obtaining women, wealth or even for a kingdom.

From the earliest scriptures to the teachings of sages, one truth remains eternal: human birth is not just a stage in the soul’s evolution — it is a divine blessing. Many take this life for granted, but according to sacred texts, being born human is rarer than we can imagine. The question arises — why is killing a human considered a graver sin than killing an insect? The answer lies in the immense spiritual potential locked within the human form.

In Hindu cosmology, even Brahmaji—the creator god—has a lifespan of 100 divine years, equivalent to 3,110,400,000 human years. When his lifespan ends, all 14 realms of the universe are destroyed in an event known as Prakrut-Pralaya. Everything resets.
It takes 350 such natural dissolutions for a soul to receive a human body. This is not mythology — it’s a timeline, highlighting the remarkable rarity of human birth.

Before reaching the human form, a soul passes through millions of lower births — from plants to animals. But only in human form can one attain moksha (liberation). It is the only form where spiritual effort is both possible and fruitful. Hence, to waste or destroy a human life is a spiritual disaster.

Why Killing a Human is Worse Than Killing an Insect
We crush insects without guilt. But harming a human being carries heavy spiritual consequences. Insects lack the awareness and opportunity for salvation. Humans, however, are capable of conscious evolution — prayer, meditation, surrender. Killing a human cuts off a soul’s path to liberation, making it an unforgivable karmic act.

The human body is described as a boat to cross the ocean of samsara (repeated birth and death). With the guidance of a Guru, fueled by devotion, this body can carry the soul to the other shore — freedom. To kill or misuse it is to burn the boat mid-ocean, ensuring one’s own drowning.

Despite their luxuries, Devas want human birth. The scriptures quote them saying: “-.मुकुन्दसेवां पयिक्रमं च सुप्रियाः” — “We want the chance to serve Lord Mukunda (God).” Even Deva can’t attain liberation unless they take birth as humans.

Consider a sacred cow. Only if it’s milk is used in divine rituals does it perform seva (service). But such chances are extremely rare. Animals act from instinct, not devotion. Only humans have the tools for liberation.

A cow whose milk is offered to God might attain moksha, but this is rare and involuntary. Humans, on the other hand, can:

This conscious capability makes human life irreplaceable in the journey to moksha.

Scriptures declare — “कस्यापि” — never harm or kill a human being. Regardless of one’s varna (caste), gender, or background, every human is a potential God-realized soul. Taking a life for lust, greed, or power closes off a soul’s opportunity and deeply corrupts your own.

Spiritual opportunity is not reserved for Brahmins or men. Lady devotees like Meera Bai and Maitreyi prove that women are equally eligible. The Shudra or the sinner, even the untouchable, all have the right to attain God. Spiritual equality is foundational to the purpose of human life.

History tells us how lust has led men to murder in pursuit of women. Lust clouds the soul’s vision, pushing it further from God. The karmic consequences of such acts result in lifetimes of suffering and regression in spiritual evolution.

Wealth is temporary, but the damage done in its pursuit can haunt a soul for lifetimes. Taking a life for property or gold is like trading diamonds for dust. Such actions invite heavy karmic punishment.

The worst sin is killing for power, combining both lust and greed. Kings, dictators, and arlords who caused bloodshed for the sake of rule may be remembered, but their souls are buried deep in karmic bondage.

Modern life glorifies enjoyment, but scriptures emphasise liberation. The human body isn’t designed for luxury — it’s a temple, a vehicle to reach the eternal. When we misuse it for egoic pleasure, we waste the chance that comes only once in countless lifetimes.

As a human, your duties are clear:
Live righteously

Do these, and you rise. Ignore them, and the cycle begins again.

Abuse your human life — by committing murder, sin, or living selfishly — and you risk being reborn in lower forms. This is not religious fear — it’s cosmic law (karma). Misused potential leads to spiritual demotion.
Delaying Moksha
Each birth is a chance. Waste it, and moksha moves further away. The soul, bound by vasana, keeps returning. There is no guarantee you’ll get another human birth soon. The opportunity is now — don’t waste it.

Live Mindfully and Spiritually
Awareness is everything. Don’t live like a machine. Reflect. Serve. Love. Remember God. These simple acts raise you beyond ordinary existence and align your soul with its divine source.
Practice Devotion, Discipline, and Detachment
Master the three Do’s:

These form the golden path to liberation.

No One Is Too Low for God’s Grace
God doesn’t look at varna, status, or gender. He looks at sincerity. Whether saint or sinner, the moment one turns inward, grace flows. Everyone born human is eligible for salvation — if they seek it with honesty and humility.

We’ve explored the immense value of human birth. It is the most precious form of existence, one that allows a soul to break free from the wheel of samsara. Killing a human being is not just a crime — it’s the destruction of a divine opportunity.
Even Devas long for what we already have. So do not let vasana, greed, or ego ruin what took trillions of years to earn. Live a life of truth, service, and devotion. Let your birth be the bridge to God, not a missed chance.
