Shikshapatri Non Violence: Love, Peace & Ahimsa for All Living Beings

Published On: January 3, 2026

My followers shall never knowingly kill any living creature, even very small insects like lice, bugs, etc.

Shikshapatri Non Violence: Vidhirup Dharma & Nishedhrup Dharma

There are two types of Dharmas stated in the scriptures, Vidhirup Dhrama & Nishaderup Dhrama.

In Shikshapatri, I Maharaj has first stated Nishedhrup Dhrama & later Vidhirup Dharma. Nished Dharma is supposed to be followed for 100%, no excuse is to be given, but Vidhu Dharma, if we can follow, then we can do.

Shikshapatri Non Violence and the Sin of Cruelty

In the scriptures, it is stated that out of all the “Don’ts”, to be cruel or to kill any living creature is the most sinful.

Brahmatma Bhav: The Mountain-High Ideal of Non-Violence & Equality for the Mumukshu

Non-violence is a common Dharma for all, & to say this to a mumukshu (seeker of liberation), especially, is a waste, but for those who have enmity against someone, have a mindset of ‘He is disturbing me, so i will harm him.’ This type of Violence may exist. Those who are mumukushu for them, there is no upper class or lower class, all are equal, & those mumukushu don’t have enmity against anyone. If at all any mumukushu kills any creature due to bad company or enmity, then it falls off the rules & regulations given by god, like a man fell from the summit of a mountain. To get that attitude is as difficult as climbing a mountain. This is called Brahmatma bhav. In Bhagwat, it is said that one who has brahmatma bhav, he will even perform Dandvat Pranam to a Dog, Donkey, etc

Bhagwan Shree Krishna killed Many people at the time of the Mahabharat & other Wars. Is it Adharma?

First things first, God is free from Dharma & Adharma. We should mainly not do Violence to ourselves. If we pluck any vegetables or flowers, some living creatures are dying. So what does it mean? Should we not even eat vegetables? NO! If we pluck it & offer it to god, then what creatures were killed were not for our self-interest, it is for the sake of god. If one kills any creature, then he will fall from the path of devotion, & his akalyan is guaranteed. We should not fall from the path of devotion, or else our akalyan is guaranteed. We should never fall from the path of devotion. Bhagwan Shree Krishna killed the adharmi people who were in the Mahabharat war. It is also a RajDharma (Dharma of Kings) & also Dharma of God. When Bhagwan Shree Krishna came on this earth, he had a mission: to finish all the adharma. According to the vision of God, it is not violence.

Dehabhiman: The Cause of Violence

Why is Dehabhinam a problem?

It creates fear of death & suffering, leading to Violence because if a bug bites you. You will kill him, which leads to attachment to material desires, & keeps one trapped in the cycle of birth & rebirth (Samsara)

How to Get Rid of Dehabhiman

One can get Rid of Deahabhinam (Attachment to the body & “I”) by doing Nishkam Seva ( Selfless Service ) of Bhagawan & his Santos

But if you have some desires from inside to get credit or to get appreciated, then it is not Nishkam Seva; it is Sakam Seva (Seva full of desires)

The Easiest Way:

Nishkam SevaSakam Seva
Service was performed purely for Bhagwan’s pleasure & without any expectation.Service is performed with the expectation of material or spiritual rewards.
If the Seva is small, you will be free from Deahabhiman No matter how great the seva you do, it won’t be free from Deshabhiman.
Considered a Gnani (one with true knowledge) said in the Bhagavad Gita.Called an Artharthi (one who seeks material gains), as told in the Bhagavad Gita.
Receives abundant divine bliss & remains in close service of Bhagwan.Experiences of limited divine joy due to residual desires.

Bhagavad Gita Insight: II काले न आत्मानं विन्दति II

The Bhagavad Gita, one of the foundational scriptures of Hinduism, offers deep insights into life, self-realisation, & liberation. Among its many profound verses, II काले न आत्मानं विन्दति II stands out as a powerful declaration that in a short time, he attains completely whatever he wants, that is the fruit of Nishkam Seva.

100% he will be free from Deahabhinam. If he runs through its process. The term Dehabhinam refers to the attachment & identification with the physical body. In the Bhagavad Gita, Lord Krishna repeatedly reminds Arjuna that he is not the body but the eternal soul (Atman).

What if one is Harmed Mistakenly?

Maharaj has mentioned-IIबुद्धयाII– Knowingly.
One should never kill anyone, only knowingly. If one kills knowingly, then we get the sin, but unknowingly, by mistake, is acceptable; we can perform prayaschit, & god will forgive us. But remember we always get fruit of our Karma, if it is done knowingly or unknowingly.
