Gurukul Performed Vishwa Shanti Yagna by giving Aahuti in yagna with Sarvamangal Namavali and Shanti Path.
Yagna holds a supreme position in Hindu culture, with no major ceremony or milestone in life being complete without inviting the Agni or Fire God as the chief guest. Multifold offerings to this chief guest are what a yagna is all about, accompanied by chanting of Vedic mantras each time an offering, or aahuti, is made.
Agni as the MessengerWhy is an Agni Kund such a vital part of Yagnas? It is because by making an offering of gratitude and sacrifice to the fire, the offering is believed to reach God directly and quickly.
The platform of the Agni Kund is known as vedi. The pit into which the oblations are offered is known as kund. The wood that is used to light the fire is known as samidh, and is only to be obtained from specified trees like ashvattha, palash, khadira, nyagrodha or shami. The shami tree is particularly auspicious as it is regarded as the agni garbha or mother of fire. The ladle used to pour ghee into the fire is known as agnihotra havani, ans ia also made of a special wood, the vaikankata. The person who sponsors the yagna is known as yajamãn. The chief brahmin pandit conducting the rites is known ashotru or adhvaryu. He may be helped by another pundit who chants stotras. He is known as prati-prasthãtru orudgãtru.
There is usually one and occasionally three Agni Kund or fires lit in the Yagna area. The usual ingredients poured into the yajna are ghee, milk, grains, fruits, flowers, cloth, and money.
Different Yagnas are performed for many rituals like for new home, or new business, for sake of any desire or for the only pray to god. Gurukul performed yagna to pray to god.
What does performing a yagna do for you? As the holy smoke from a yagna permeates our surroundings, our nature, it not only eradicates all ill-effects and negativity from our nature, it also brings with it peace, happiness, prosperity, wealth, and contentment. According to the Yajur Veda, it also bestows strength and vigour by sanctifying the food one eats and the water one drinks. Moreover, the presiding deva Agni, who is described thus – yagnya devam – is believed to secure purohit or the welfare of all.
We feel very proud to mention that this kind of Yagna was not performed for the first time, Gurukul always performs this kind of ritual whenever we human-being are in a problem. This auspicious and Niskam Seva of performing Yagna was performed in 1945 during the II – World War for 21 days by the founder of Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul, HDH Shashtriji Maharaj Shri Dharmajivandasji swami for the peace in the world. Hence, such Yagnas have always been performed by Gurukul saints for peace in the world.
Recently Shree Swaminarayan Gurukul International School, performed Yagna with the support of 251 saints across India for the well-being of mankind and to find peace in the world.
May Bhagwan Swaminarayan Bless everyone…!
